This portal provides information about almost all the museum and cultural heritage institutions in Lithuania. One can search for museums alphabetically, according to the level of administration to which they are subject, the type of collection they contain, or their location.
The National Museum of Lithuania (Lietuvos nacionalinis muziejus)
The museum collects, preserves, studies, and disseminates information about important historical objects that reflect the evolution of Lithuanian statehood and cultural history. It comprises the largest collection of archaeological, ethnocultural, and historical artefacts in the country. The Medieval Archaeology collection contains more than 80 000 findings from the excavation of Lithuanian sites dating to the Middle Ages and Early Modern period. For example, the findings from the Vilnius Castles complex, Vilnius and other locales date from the 13th to the 19th century. The History Section collects and exhibits objects that date from the beginning of the 13th century, and holds collections of rare prints, textiles, domestic appliances and housewares, militaria, liturgical objects, furniture, and sphragistics. The Collection of Numismatics preserves coins from various countries (the oldest examples of which date back to the 10th century), money from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, treasures, and 16th-century medals.
Trakai History Museum (Trakų istorijos muziejus)
During the course of its 60 years of activity, the museum has acquired huge collections of archaeological artefacts, numismatics, handwritings, applied arts, crafts, and historical heritage objects that reflect Lithuanian and world history. The Museum’s exhibitions also display findings excavated from Trakai castles and the town.
Vytautas the Great War Museum (Vytauto Didžiojo karo muziejus)
Researchers in the Department of the Military History of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės karybos istorijos skyrius) explore the military history of the Grand Duchy between the 13th and 18th centuries. The Department pays particular attention to wars, battles, and developments within the army. The Department also curates an exhibition of military artefacts and materiel from the Grand Duchy of Lithuania spanning the 13th century to 1648.
The History Museum of Lithuania Minor (Mažosios Lietuvos istorijos muziejus)

One of the departments of this museum has been established on the site of the former castle of Klaipeda; its exhibition presents the history and evolution of Klaipeda castle and town from the 13th to the 17th century.
Vilnius Picture Gallery of Lithuanian Art Museum (Lietuvos dailės muziejus)
The museum is located at the heart of the old town of Vilnius in the historical palace of the noble Chodkiewicz family of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Permanent exibition of "Lithuanian art from 16th to 19th century".
