    - Medieval Manuscripts in Dutch Collections
    Language: English
This site became accessible in 2007. It gives access to an online catalogue of all medieval manuscripts (dated up to 1550) preserved in the Netherlands. Through it, one can gain access to information regarding some 6,000 medieval manuscripts in the Netherlands. Many reproductions of particular manuscripts are already available. The work is still in progress, and there are collections to be added or completed, but from now on this site provides a tool which will make that work accessible. Not only that, but the site includes PDF versions of several useful works, like:

    - Bibliotheca Neerlandica Manuscripta (seems unavailable in January 2020)
    Languages: Dutch, English
Database concerning manuscripts of medieval texts from the Netherlands mostly in the Dutch language. It originates from the work of the pioneer Willem Lodewijk De Vreese (1869-1938). The database was developped at Leiden University, but in 2015 it has found a new home at the ING Huygens Institute.

    - Bibliotheca Philosophica Hermetica
    Languages: Dutch, English
    J.R. Ritman Library, Amsterdam
This former collection of illuminated manuscripts, put together in recent decades, was partially sold in several Sotheby’s sales and has partially found a new home in the Royal Library in The Hague.

    - Illuminated Manuscripts of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, Den Haag
    Languages: Dutch, English
The collection of illuminated manuscripts of the Royal Library of the Hague is one of the most accessible by internet in the world. The site proposes reproductions of all the miniatures of its medieval manuscripts. The resolution is OK and each reproduction is accompanied by a historical and bibliographical notice; an iconographical index facilitates the exploration of the corpus.

    - Museum Meermano-Westreenianum, Den Haag
    Language: Dutch
This museum’s collection of illuminated manuscripts is integrated into the database of those of the Royal Library. All miniatures in fairly good quality.

    - Athenaeumbibliotheek Deventer
    Language: Dutch
The Athenaeum library, Deventer has been founded in 1560 and houses a fine ancient collection of manuscripts and early printed books.

    - Universiteitsbibliotheek Leiden: Special Collections
    Language: Dutch, English
Leiden has the larges collection of Medieval Manuscripts in the Netherlands.
The website “Digital special collections” of Leiden University Library was created in 2008 and gives access to a catalogue of many of the manuscripts and all early printed books. Also thousands of images in good resolution.

    • NB : Unfortunately this library has chosen to digitise the precious Vossius collection containing many very ancient medieval manuscripts in a collaborative project with Brill Editions, which is why these digitisations are available behind a pay wall.

    - Universiteitsbibliotheek Amsterdam (UvA): Special Collections
    Language: Dutch

    - Universiteitsbibliotheek Groningen (RUG): Special Collections
    Languages: Dutch, English

    - Universiteitsbibliotheek Tilburg, Brabant Collectie
    Language: Dutch
Collection concerning the history of Brabant, containing medieval manuscripts

    - Universiteitsbibliotheek Utrecht: Special Collections
    Languages: Dutch, English
On this site it is possible to consult a digital facsimile of the famous Carolingian manuscript, the Utrecht Psalter, with critical apparatus.
