The library has 22 Ethiopian manuscripts coming from the collection acquired by Samuel A. B. Mercer at the beginning of the 20th century. He worked a semistist in the Western Theological Seminary until 1920, playing an important role in the setting up of the Hibbard Egyptian Library.
The entire collection has been digitized and the microfilms were acquired by the HMML.
